Saturday, January 2, 2010 - The Garner EMS & Rescue Squad ended 2009 with record setting numbers. The EMS Division's call volume increased from 6260 calls for service in 2008 up to 6529 in 2009. Additionally, ambulances from other agencies answered 763 calls for service in the Garner EMS & Rescue Squad's primary response area during the past year. This was because the Garner EMS units where committed on other calls or the non Garner ambulances where truly the closest EMS ambulance to the call as recognized by the AVL System in place today.
The Rescue Division answered 693 calls for service in 2009. This number is up a little from 2008's 665 calls.
The Garner Medical Transport Division answered 3152 calls for service in 2009. This is the first full year this division has been in operation.
The combined total call volume for all three divisions is 10,374 calls for service. This averages out to be close to 28.5 calls a day.
